4-4-2 vs. 4-3-2 + goalkeeper
Exercise 3
* 20 players, divided into two teams play in one half of a full-sized pitch, the normal goals at one end and two small goals made up of cones at the half-way line
* the defending team is made up of a goalkeeper, seven outfield players (divided into a back four and three midfield players), with two target forwards who are stationed permanently behind two small goals
* the attacking team plays in a 4-4-2 formation and attacks normally
* for the defending team to score, one of the midfielders must play a one-two with one of the target forwards before shooting into the small goals
* during the exercise players are switched between the two teams, maintaining their roles

* the wide midfielders of the defending team must squeeze up into the middle of the pitch when the opposition is attacking through the middle
* the defending team must try to keep possession when bringing the ball out if there is no obvious forward ball
* when the defenders are under pressure they must hit the ball long and then push up quickly
